Hadleigh Park and the Olympics Legacy Project

Overlooking the Thames Estuary, near Southend on Sea, Hadleigh Country Park offers unrivalled opportunities for countryside recreation and wildlife watching, as well as magnificent views over the estuary to Kent. Extending to 152 hectares (387 acres) it is one of the largest country parks in Essex and comprises an intimate mix of woodland, pasture, hay meadow and marsh with old hedgerows and ponds. The site is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Protection Area (SPA).

The Essex Grazing Project is working with Natural England and Active Essex to implement an ambitious grassland restoration scheme as part of the 2012 Olympics Legacy. The detailed plan the project is working to is available to view on the Hadleigh Legacy 2012 website.
