A Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Special Protection Area (SPA) on the border of Essex and Hertfordshire, noted for its bird fauna.
A large ancient flood meadow that attracts vast numbers of birds, as well as numerous other animals and plant life.
The seasonal flooding of the meadow combined with the rich soils has resulted in a mosaic of habitats, consisting of reedbeds, marshy grasslands and fen vegetation.
Our Red Poll cattle graze the site alongside the Wildlife Trust's Konik ponies.
